Sleep Center
PURPOSE
Sleep disorders include most commonly Obstructive Sleep Apnea. It is the extreme of snoring, where the
throat opening
collapses and closes up when the patient goes to sleep, due to narrow opening and relaxed throat muscles.
The most common treatment is CPAP, a mask which applies gentle airway pressure which keeps the throat
distended and prevents
the collapse.
Untreated Sleep Apnea causes daytime sleepiness, and increases the risk for heart attacks, strokes,
hypertension, and
irregular heart beat ( atrial fibrillation).
Other sleep disorders we address are Narcolepsy, Shift work disorder, Leg Movement Disorder, Restless Leg
Syndrome.
The Sleep Center is the busiest in Southeast Houston. It is accredited by the American Association of Sleep
Medicine.
Our doctors are all board certified in Sleep and we employ registered sleep technicians. We provide a prompt
cycle of
scheduling studies, follow up visit with the physician and set up of CPAP if needed the same day.
